Modulation

Each zone has its own modulators and an 18 row modulation matrix. Every voice runs its own copy. Groups have a similar set, running once for the group.

Zone Group
Envelopes AMP EG plus EG2 to EG5 GRP EG1, GRP EG2
LFOs LFO 1 to 4 GLFO 1 to 4
Phasors A to D A to D
Randoms A to D A to D
Envelope followers 2 2
Matrix rows 18 18

The AMP EG controls the zone’s volume. The other envelopes do nothing until routed in the matrix.

Each envelope has delay, attack, hold, decay, sustain and release, with shape controls for attack, decay and release. The menu sets how the envelope follows the note:

  • Gated (DAHDSR): holds at sustain until the key is released.
  • No Sustain
  • Oneshot
  • Sample Gated (zones only)
  • Gate on Voice Sounding (groups only): gated while any voice in the group sounds.

Choose a shape from the LFO menu:

  • Sine, Triangle, Saw, Pulse, Smooth Noise, S&H Noise, with rate, phase, deform and angle, plus delay, attack and release.
  • Step Sequencer: 1 to 32 steps. Drag to draw.
  • Envelope: a DAHDSR envelope with a rate multiplier and loop.

The trigger mode sets when the LFO restarts: KEYTRIG, SONGPOS, RANDOM, RELEASE or ONESHOT.

The MISC tab holds the phasors and randoms.

  • Phasors ramp in time with the song or the voice, at a note division or a ratio of the tempo.
  • Randoms pick a new value when the voice or group starts, from a choice of distributions.

The AUDIO tab holds two envelope followers, taken before or after the processors.

Each row connects a SOURCE to a TARGET with a depth. A VIA source scales the row, and a curve can reshape the source.

Zone sources include the LFOs and envelopes, the group’s LFOs and envelopes, MIDI (mod wheel, velocity, aftertouch, pitch bend), MIDI CCs, key tracking, MPE, note expressions, voice state, phasors, randoms, envelope followers and the part’s macros.

Zone targets include envelope and LFO parameters, zone tune, pan and amplitude, sample start, every processor parameter, and the depth of other matrix rows.

Each part has 16 macros, edited in the MACROS tab of the mapping pane. A macro can be Unipolar, Bipolar or a Toggle, and can be renamed. Macros are available as modulation sources in every zone and group of the part, and appear to your DAW as plugin parameters.
