Multitimbral Playback
A multi has 16 parts, each an independent instrument. A new multi has only Part 1 active.
Parts are managed in the PARTS tab of the edit screen sidebar. Each active part has a card. Add Part activates the next inactive part.
Choosing which part plays
Section titled “Choosing which part plays”The channel mode button in the header, OMNI, MPE or Ch/Oct, sets how all parts use MIDI channels.
- Omni: each part’s MIDI button sets the channel it listens to, either Omni for all channels or Channel 1 to Channel 16. Part N starts on channel N.
- Channel/Octave: every part plays on every channel, and the channel shifts the note. Channels 1 to 8 shift up 0 to 7 octaves; channels 9 to 16 shift down 8 to 1 octaves. With a microtuning loaded, an octave is the scale’s repeat interval.
- MPE: every part plays on every channel. See MPE.
The Part Options menu at the top of the sidebar has Set All to Omni and Set to Incremental MIDI Channels.
The part card
Section titled “The part card”- Name: click for the Part I/O menu, with rename, save, load and Deactivate Part.
- M and S: mute and solo. A muted part does not respond to new notes.
- MIDI: the part’s channel, in Omni mode.
- Level and Pan
- OUT: where the part’s output goes. See Routing.
- Voice limit: the most voices the part can play, from 4 to 512.
- Tuning: in semitones, -36 to +36.
- Transpose: shifts incoming notes by -36 to +36 keys before zones are chosen.
Saving and loading parts
Section titled “Saving and loading parts”A part saves to a .scp file. Save Part refers to samples where they are, Save Part with
Collected Samples copies them to a folder beside the file, and Save Part as Monolith stores
them inside the file.
Dropping a .scp file on a part card replaces that part.
