Importing Formats

Kind Extensions
Samples .wav, .flac, .aif, .aiff, .mp3, .opus
Instruments .sf2, .sfz, .exs, .gig, .akp, .multisample
Shortcircuit XT .scm (multi), .scp (part)

Samples must be mono or stereo.

Double-click an instrument in the browser, or drag it onto the mapping pane or a part card. When dragging, drop on one half to replace the part or the other half to add to it.

An import adds new groups to the selected part. It does not create a new part. The whole import is a single undo step.

Dragging an SF2 file with several instruments asks which one to import. Double-clicking it imports all of them.

Features Shortcircuit XT cannot import are skipped.

  • SF2: one group per instrument, with key and velocity ranges, root key, tuning, loops, pan, level, both envelopes, the filter, the vibrato LFO and the common modulators. The modulation LFO and exclusive classes are not imported.
  • SFZ: regions with key and velocity ranges and fades, root key, tuning, level, loops, amp and filter envelopes, filter, and common CC and velocity modulation. seq_position round robins become variants. #define is not supported.
  • EXS: groups with volume, pan, polyphony and exclusive groups; zones with ranges, tuning, start and end, reverse, one-shot, release trigger and loops; the filter and both envelopes. Round robin groups are imported as parallel zones.
  • GIG: one group per instrument, with one zone for each velocity and layer split. Other dimensions, such as round robin and keyswitch, keep only their first zone. LFOs are not imported.
  • AKP: key and velocity ranges, tuning, pan, level, two envelopes and a low pass filter. Samples are looked for beside the .akp file; missing samples are skipped.
  • .multisample: groups, key and velocity ranges and fades, root key, tuning and loops.

Shortcircuit XT reads the root key, key and velocity ranges and loop from WAV (smpl and inst chunks), AIFF and FLAC files. WAV cue and strc markers become slices shown on the waveform.

If a multi or part refers to samples that cannot be found, the Missing Sample Resolution screen lists them. Click Resolve to locate a file. With Auto-Resolve Siblings on, other missing files from the same folder are found too.

To reopen the screen, right-click a zone and choose Resolve Missing Samples.
