Voice Management
Voice limits
Section titled “Voice limits”Voices are limited at three levels:
- Engine: 512 voices in total.
- Part: the voice limit button on the part card, from 4 to 512.
- Group: the polyphony button in GROUP SETTINGS, available in Poly and Piano mode. PART means the group has no limit of its own; otherwise choose from 1 to 64 voices.
When a limit is reached, the oldest voice is stolen. Released voices are stolen before held ones.
Exclusive groups
Section titled “Exclusive groups”The exclusive group button in GROUP SETTINGS puts groups in a choke group. It reads OFF until a number is chosen. When a group starts a voice, voices in other groups with the same exclusive group number are quickly faded out. Choose New Group to create a new number.
Group settings
Section titled “Group settings”The rest of the GROUP SETTINGS card applies to all selected groups:
- Volume, up to +12 dB, and Pan
- Tuning: -24 to +24 semitones.
- PB: pitch bend range down and up, 0 to 48 keys. Zones use this unless they set their own.
The group ROUTING pane also has:
- Vel: velocity sensitivity for the group.
- HQ: oversampling for the group and its zones. Click to step through HQ: OFF,
HQ: ON and HQ: AUTO, or right-click for a menu.
- Off (1x): never oversamples.
- On (2x): always runs the group and its zones at twice the sample rate. The default for new groups.
- Auto (2x when pitched up): oversamples only a voice pitched up far enough to alias. Imported instruments use this.
Sounding groups
Section titled “Sounding groups”While a group is producing sound, its row in the group and zone tree shows a speaker. The speaker stays lit while the group’s processors ring out after its voices end.
